The Thursday Volunteer crew meets every week as a facet of Hollis Community. There is plenty of work to be done and we share a meal together at noon. The Thursday morning team works hard on challenging on-going maintenance and capital improvements. After the work is done, the spirit of community at Hollis is shared with a mid-day meal where workers get a chance to relax and share fellowship. Bring a hardy work spirit and appetite, and the rest will be provided. A Saturday Volunteer crew is also getting started. They continue the work on Thursdays but they also work with the many groups that volunteer at Hollis on the weekends. Contact Hollis if your group would like to volunteer.
There are three principles to the Thursday Volunteer Community:
- Vocation: being called to what we do.
- Stewardship: taking care of what is given; and
- Obedience: serving one another.
What happens on Thursdays?
- 9:00 AM - Volunteers arrive
- 9:15 AM - Assign tasks
- 11:45 AM - Lunch at the lodge
- 1:00 PM - Resume activities or leave
