Trail Team
Hollis is a wonderful, natural 150 acres section of land for people of all ages to thoroughly enjoy. The Hollis outdoors was meant to be enjoyed and totally experienced. Trails are a manmade access to the beauty of the woods and fields. To help keep the trails open and safe we have developed a trail team. You can be a member of our team by earning a Trail Team patch.
By having people walk and groom the trails, they stay open, useable and safe. This saves the Hollis Foundation expenses on upkeep and the Hollis staff valuable time that could invest in other programs. We need and appreciate your help. The program is totally based on the honor system just like our natural resources must rely on our honor as humans to protect and preserve them.
Here is how it works:
- You must hike all the trails and any side trails that you can see or find in a reasonable time period. It is suggested that you do all the trails in a day or in a weekend (The trails total approximately 4 ½ miles).
- You must check in with the Hollis Director or the Welcome Center to let them know what your plans are. The is good for communication to Hollis and in general is good safe hiking practice.
- You may hike along, but it is suggested that you take a buddy or a group. This is more beneficial to the trails and is also good hiking practice.
- Return to the office, sign the Trail Team register, especially making comment as to the conditions or problems, and pick up your patch.

Here are some suggestions:
- Pick up a map from the Welcome Center,
- Dress appropriately, including some sun protection, take water.
- Pick up any trash that can carry, clear anything off the trail that shouldn’t be there if not too heavy, bend or break back any small branches that have grown over into the trail, and
- Repair if you can, any rocks or log embankments that have eroded on stairs or trail sides.
Thank you, and most importantly, enjoy Hollis and outdoors!!!
If you have any questions about these programs or would like to create a program for Hollis please do not hesitate to contact the Hollis staff!
