What is Hollis Renewal Center?

Organizationally, Hollis is a 501 (c)(3) Kansas Corporation and a member of the Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Organization,

Physically, Hollis is 153 acres of secluded wooded land located just west of Kansas City with facilities for retreats, workshops, meetings and outdoor activities.

Spiritually, Hollis is a place for prayer and hospitality in order to provide opportunities for reflection, learning, and renewal for groups and individuals.

Who Owns Hollis?

The partner congregations of the Hollis Corporation own Hollis.  There are currently 28 partner churches, that choose to belong to Hollis Renewal Center. The partner congregations elect a board of directors, provide support, appoint advocates for communication and participate in the program and development of Hollis.  Find out how your church can be a partner congregation by following this link.

How is Hollis supported?

Support comes from member congregations, from individuals, from contributions for use, from program fees, from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and from grants and gifts. An endowment has been established.

Who can use Hollis?

Partner congregations have priority in that they can reserve earlier than non-partners. However, all congregations are invited to use Hollis for their own programs and encourage individuals to participate in Hollis programs . Individuals are welcome to Hollis for personal time. Church groups from other traditions, other not-for-profits, and some corporate groups are also finding Hollis a supportive place for them.

What does it cost to come to Hollis?

Just visiting Hollis is free however a fee schedule is established for use of any facilities or programs and is available at this display or on request.

From Interstate 70, take the 110th exit (Exit 410) south one mile, and turn west on Kansas Ave "by the fire station" (Look for the little brown ‘Hollis’ sign on the west side of the road. Turn right (or west) in 50 feet the road will branch (turn right or west) and take Kansas Ave west about 1/2 mile, proceed down the hill.

The road ends at Hollis.
