The Hollis Renewal Center provides a welcoming environment and experience for individuals and groups seeking spiritual growth and renewal.
A place to be surprised by God.
"It's not easy to sit and trust that in solitude God will speak to you - not as a magical voice but that God will let you know something gradually over the years. And in that word from God you will find the inner place from which to live your life. Solitude is where spiritual ministry begins. That's where Jesus listened to God. That's where we listen to God." - Henri Nouwen
Hollis Renewal Center is foremost a place where you can find space to listen to God. Whether it is in our year-round facilities or out in our 153 wooded acres, as an individual or in a group, being at Hollis encourages you to center your life so that you may fully live it.
Since its start, Hollis Renewal Center has provided "a time and place apart" for individuals, small groups and congregations to pause and reflect on their mission. It has embodied hospitality and given groups the time and space to be transformed from a collection of individuals into a community. Hollis is a living and working community of people sharing the vision of spiritual renewal. Hollis was started by Lutherans, but open to all. We take very seriously the gifts of time, land, buildings and resources as we use them wisely and care for their sustainability into the future.
The Hollis Symbol
The logo represents Hollis Renewal Center as a Christian Witness dedicated to growth and wholeness in Christian living and to the centrality of Christ in Life, here, represented by the cross. The cross is entwined with a Mobius Strip which has no inside and no outside, no beginning and no end. It represents the journey of the Christian Life - an inner journey for reflection and spiritual growth, an outer journey for service and action in daily life.
